United States Congressman. A member of the Republican Party, he served Utah's 3rd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives from 1997 until 2009. He attained his Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University and studied Business at Harvard University, prior to earning his Law degree from Brigham Young University. Cannon began his association with the political arena when he served as a solicitor with the United States Department of Interior from 1983 until 1986. He succeeded Congressman Bill Orton for the Utah's 3rd District Congressional seat and during his tenure in Washington, Cannon served on the House Government Reform Committee and the House Resources Committee. He was succeeded in Congress by Jason Chaffetz in 2009.
